About the Session:

Author John Felling will lead the participants through 90 minutes of his all-time favourite Math Games focusing on number sense, place value and operational fluency.  The games are easily differentiated over a wide range of grade and ability levels.  The games are powerful tools that can be taught once but can be used to cover a wide range of concepts over a wide range of grades.

The rest of the day will be devoted to introducing and playing new games and activities along with follow-up activities.  Concept areas during this time will focus on such topic areas as: remediation for basic + and x facts; multi-digit operational fluency; mental math strategies; linear equations; fractions and proportionality including equivalency and operations; decimals and percents; data management, graphing, statistics, chance and probability; and more!

Throughout the day, the most current, effective teaching practices will be modeled and highlighted. Participants will also learn how plan for effective use of games throughout the year instead of: worksheets, textbook practice pages, homework, etc.
