Establishing a learning environment where students are able to
actively pay attention and concentrate is a prerequisite to learning. Without it, students simply do not learn. How can this be possible in today’s classrooms with so many potential distractors, attention deficits and attention fragmentation we seem to see in so many students?

In this session Dr. Chris Mattatall helps us explore ways in which
teachers can address and navigate student distraction. Dr. Mattatall will use the book Distracted: Why Students Can’t Focus and What You Can Do About It (Lang; 2020), as well as findings from the Science of Learning to share strategies that help classroom teachers reframe this problem and structure
our teaching that creates, achieves and maintains attention for learning.
