In this session, the 21st Century Learning Specialists from Rocky View Schools will facilitate a series of Design Thinking Protocols tailored for instructional design. In addition to learning about the RVS Instructional Design Framework, attendees will have the opportunity to use it in action to design an experience for students or professionals in their own contexts.
This session is an in-depth follow-up to the session that was sponsored at the Moving Forward with High School Redesign Regional Collaborative Day in Lethbridge on March 16.
Act I: Be a student – experience a short project arc from a student’s point of view.
Act II: Learn about the Design Framework.
Act III: Use the IDF to plot your own design.
Act IV: Peers with Ears – get & give feedback on your design.
Jason Ness and Dan McWilliam are Learning Design Specialists with Rocky View Schools who work with teachers and administrators to bring forward engaging and innovative instructional design. They utilize Design Thinking strategies to enable greater collaboration and creativity in their sessions and, ultimately, in the classes, meetings and professional learning experiences run by the educators they work with.
