What's the difference between word problems and problem solving? How do we develop students' ability to problem solve rather than regurgitate mathematical formulas? Students need Problem Solving Skills in order to be successful in life. During this session, we will define true problem-solving and explore a variety of Division 2 activities that develop these skills in our students.
Cathy Coers has been a classroom teacher for over 20 years and has earned her Master's Degree in the Science of Education focusing on the Art and Science of Teaching. Over the last ten years, she has gained experience supporting her teaching colleagues through the roles of Learning Coach, Math Curriculum Implementation Lead, and AISI Leader. She has helped teachers grow in the areas of instructional practices, assessment, literacy, technology, as well as mathematics.
